Foundation Training

Wednesday 20 September 2017, Melbourne CBD, VIC

“A Simplified Approach”

Foundation Investment Training gives trustees, executives and staff a solid foundation of knowledge to support them in meeting their fiduciary obligations, while enhancing their ability to implement and oversee investment strategies.

Given the Australian superannuation industry is evolving with domestic reforms and updates to APRA’s reporting standards, the requirements and reporting standards Australian funds are to adhere to are becoming more stringent and costly to the finances and reputation of a fund if not met. Hence a bigger focus on the prudent management of fund assets, and keeping the ultimate client- fund members- at the centre of all decision making is paramount to the success of Australian funds today. Furthermore, developing a strategy requires knowledge of all implications of this strategy, including necessary inputs such as the tax implications and valuation information needed for a thorough analysis.

CIE’s Foundation Investment Training is delivered in a modular approach, with modules consisting of clearly presented knowledge structured specifically for trustees, executives and staff.  Interactive and containing problem-solving in its delivery method, this training session will contextualise the role of the trustee or investment executive in relation to portfolio construction, risk and return characteristics of the various asset classes; and will also hone in on the skills required for setting appropriate investment policies to benefit both fund members and the fund itself.

Comprehensive Trustee Investment Training

Thursday 21  September 2017, Melbourne CBD, VIC

 “Enhancing Knowledge and Skill”

The Australian superannuation industry is still evolving as funds integrate reforms and policies aimed at creating a self-sufficient retirement industry. CIE’s Comprehensive Trustee Investment Training revisits the journey traveled since the Global Financial Crisis as a foundation to enhance the knowledge and skills of trustees, executives and investment staff in fulfilling their roles in the multi-faceted context of a fund.

Further interconnectedness between markets has led to an increasing correlation between return on various asset classes. This has made the traditional 40/60 split in bonds and stocks out dated. With a newfound focus on investment strategies that deliver superior returns, institutional investors are allocating greater capital towards emerging markets to achieve further portfolio diversification. Clearly, enhanced knowledge and skills are required for institutional investors to successfully navigate this world of increasing complexities.

CIE’s Comprehensive Trustee Investment Training is delivered in a modular approach, addressing the key issues and impediments that key decision makers are faced with today.
