Wednesday 31 May – Thursday 1 June 2017
Commences Wednesday afternoon and concludes late Thursday afternoon.

Sheraton Hotel, Melbourne, Victoria

CIE’s Diversifying Strategies Forum explores the role of alternative investments as an important asset allocation in its own right. The broad asset class of alternatives is becoming an important source of return, risk management and diversification for institutional portfolios. This Forum examines some of the key factors to successfully investing across private and alternative markets domestically and abroad. It focuses on effective implementation and portfolio construction and highlights the trends taking place now and into the future across this investment sphere. The Forum also addresses issues related to accessing private and alternative investments, associated fees, risks, opportunities, due diligence considerations, matters related to dealing with a counterparty, rather than a public exchange and ways of managing illiquidity.

Topics to be covered include:

  • Identifying appropriate alternative assets for Australian institutional portfolios
  • Exploring global opportunities across private and alternative markets
  • Optimising investment in private assets and building sustainable portfolios for the long-term
  • Sharing insights about approaches to investing into the asset class: institutional investor perspectives
  • Highlighting current and future challenges investors face in allocating towards private assets
